for Norma

When we embrace
our bodies
quickened with passion
with unbearable need
we possess all time
in one pure instant.

When we sit quietly
in the same room
reading       or listening
to Stan Getz
that moment
holds all time.

When we sleep
our bodies lightly touching
as first light
enters our bedroom
on autumn’s wings
we embrace all time.

Time exists
by our love
like the crocus
opening to the sun’s touch
a single breath that abides
as long as love.
