A Mother's Day First
Mom preferred a flight
as celebration
sightseeing over Toronto
then fish and chips
at the flight center picnic table
lush green landscape
between runways
scented of crops grown
and fuel spent
propellers droned
tires squealed
happy people came and went
then a last tea before home
today
Mother’s Day
flowerless and motherless
no smiles or stories
of her latest antics
I salute Mom’s picture
and lock of hair
*Editor's note: Ed's Mother passed away recently as this is a tribute to her.
